Today is Orphan Sunday. November is adoption awareness month. I don't need to tell you that both of these are near and dear to my heart.
If this statement doesn't break your heart, what will?
Not all are called to adopt but, as Christians we are called to defend the fatherless.
"Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the cause of the widows" Isaiah 1:17
How can you support the cause if you are not being led to adopt?
Pray. Pray for orphans, pray for their caregivers and pray for the missionaries working with them. You can support an adoptive family financially, you can bring them a meal or offer respite care. You can sponsor a child or a foster family. You can educate others about the orphan crisis.
